Here's the statement from Honda on the warranty extension:
In certain vehicles, a higher than normal number of
automatic transmissions may have defects in material
or workmanship that could cause premature wear or
failure. To ensure that customers have adequate
warranty coverage, American Honda is increasing the
warranty on the transmission and the torque converter
to 93 months (7 years and 9 months) or 109,000 miles,
whichever occurs first.
There were five recalls on the 2000 Accord for different reasons: one for rear seat belts, one for airbag sensors, one for rear suspension, one for instrument panel lights (V-6 only) and one for a shift interlock problem. You need to call a Honda dealer and give them your vehicle identification number to see if your vehicle is involved in any of them as these recalls do not apply to all 2000 Accords; also, they recalls if they did apply may have been completed before you bought the car.
recalls apply to the car, not to the owner, so if there are any open recalls they will be done at no charge.
the only exclusions of the warranty extension are those that apply to normal warranty--exclusions include a lack of maintenance, damage, accident, abuse etc.

I have a 1998 Accord with an I-4 Vtec with a 5 speed manual transmission and I get around 25ish city and I have gotten 33mpg on the highway. I have gotten 550miles on a tank of gas all highway 16.5 gallons used out of 17.1 gallon tank. In the summer time this car with most highway miles will always hit the 475-525 mile per tank area.
The winter seems to have a worse affect on it as for I only get 28-29 mpg highway and 23-24 city.But this is the case with all vehciles.
Not to mention this car has over 180k miles on it and it still gets 30+mpg easily.

I do have a 4-cylinder vtec. Just to answer the question below. There are 4-cylinders vtecs out there.
A: your owners manual will be very specific on what its specs are. you mpg will be simple math. fill your tank up dont top off. drive it to what every you want to (like empty). when you fill it up again divide your new gallons by the miles you drove since last fill up and that is what your mpg is. simple and a good thing to keep a log of anyways. if you get 30mpg than be happy.

What is the lug pattern on a 2000 Honda Accord LX Sedan. I know it is four lug, but is it 4x100, 4x115, or 4x133?
And I have some 18 inch ICW rims on a 2001 Honda Civic LX (4x100 pattern) with 8 holes total. I think the 4 unoccupied holes are for a different type of lug pattern. Does anyone know what pattern of lug the other 4 holes might be?

my wife's accord has 110,000 miles on it. Is it necceassary to change the timing belt? Are they still rubber belt? and if it is something I have to do is taking it to the dealer the best bet or should I just look around for a good deal? Looking to drive it for another 5 years or so.
A: NO car uses a rubber timing belt..the belt you see is ur serpintine belt. The timing belt is a chain that is covered so u cant see it without removing the top of your engine.. Honda recomends that the timing belt be change after 80,000 miles. The scarry thing is that u have know way of knowing..it just goes, causing super damage to the engine of the car,(bends all the cams and rods) possably totalling it. So i would recommend getting it changed...along with the water pump at the same time. after that an accord should be good for another 100k miles. its a good car,,trust me get it done.
