Q: (Honda Accord 2003 LX) A good buy or no?
2003 Honda Accord LX 4D Sedan from Carmax, link at the bottom. This car has 93k miles on it, has a carfax report with no issues, v6 240 hp, cloth seats, black, and other details found at link.
The price is $10,147. Seems high considering the high amount of miles, but I blue booked it and the bb was in the upper 9k's, like 9,800 so it doesn't seem bad on paper.
Considering all these details and the details found at the link below, would this car be a good buy for the price or not? Please include why or why not and I would value experienced opinions more than those not experienced. Thanks.

A: Consumer reports rates 2003 excellent and a good buy. Price range $6,425 - $10,875.
I would agree that is seems to be on the high side of this range but is it a pretty car and loaded.
Just make sure that all the major maintenance items have been done if you can. Things like a timing belt can get very expensive on imports.
Good luck.
Q: Cruise control on my 2003 Honda Accord LX?
My cruise control went out on my 2003 Honda Accord LX. Any idea of what could be wrong, or how much it could cost to fix?
A: check the fuse box.
Q: How do i change the brake pads on my 2003 honda accord lx?
ive tried to do it myself but i cannot get the calipers to loosen is there some kind of special trick i dont know about?
A: OK so I started to simply make some suggestions and it turned out to be close to an actual answer so I'm putting it here as well for Gino.
Honda front brake pads are easy to replace compared to many other types. If you have less than 50,000 miles on the car you should not be worrying about the front pads. Since you are we'll presume you drive a lot like I used to and the concern is valid. Don't let dealers try to get you to worry about such things so they can make a killing on a repair.
1) If you don't know where to start I would suggest going to your local auto parts supply (not the dealer!) such as Kragen, Shucks, Murray, Checker, or Advanced Auto Parts Stores. These are all owned by "Parts America" and the names are related to the area you live in. See their web site at www.partsamerica.com for the nearest location to you.
2) Get a Chilton's auto repair manual for your vehicle. It will provide you with the details on how to change your brake pads. It will also tell you how to inspect them (after you jack the car up take the wheel off)to see if they are in need of replacement.
3) If you decide to do this on your own, you will need some simple tools. First suggestion I tell my friends is before you start to do anything to remove the caliper is to turn the wheel a few times. When the car is stopped the front brakes tend to stay close to the wheel. If you don't know the air that is generated when the car is moving creates an air cushion that keeps the brake pads away from the rotor. By turning the wheel first you will loosen this enough to make it easier to do the job.
4) Second thing before you remove the caliper is to examine the disks. You will be able to see about 3/4 of the disk at a time because the caliper blocks your view. Because you turned the wheel before removing it you should be able to turn the disk grabbing the lug bolts that the wheel attached to. Please DO NOT touch the rotor with your hands. These need to be clean at all times. What you are looking for is to see if the rotors are worn and need replacing. Starting at the part closest to the hub follow the profile of the rotor surface to the outer most part. The surface should be smooth, have no discoloration, and with a 2003 vehicle there should be almost NO ridge at the outer edge (1/4 inch). I have a 2002 CR-V and there is no ridge on my rotors. My wifes '97 Accord has 84,000 miles on it and just a bit of a ridge; This is acceptable wear. (bye the way I didn't have to replace her brake pads until the car hit 70,000 miles.) If you see any significant ripples on the surfaces then you have spent too much time with your foot on the brake. If you have anything other than smooth rotors you should consider having someone qualified (with experience that is) work on it. Find a friend because "Turning the Rotors" requires knowledge and a machine shop is not a fun job nor anything to be taken lightly.
5) Gather the tools (Wrenches will be METRIC) and follow the instructions in the book to remove the rotors. Remember they are fairly heavy as they are made of cast iron for durability. They will remain attached to the car via the brake hose. DO NOT attempt to remove them, this would make a big mess and add to the cost. I do recommend you have a box like a milk carton crate and a couple of smaller items available to stack up as necessary to rest the caliper upon.
6) A large "C-Clamp" is always useful to push the "Puck" pack into the caliper. This must be done so that the thicker pads can fit between the caliper and the rotor. The C-Clamp will have to have an opening of at least 6 inches to be useful. Be careful not to place the c-clamp at an angle or you can jam the puck. I like to use a piece of 1/4 inch plywood across the entire puck surface and that way pressure is placed evenly around the puck as you gently tighten the clamp thus pressing the puck back into the caliper.
6) Make sure you DO NOT touch the face of the new pads with dirty hands or they will have a tendency to squeak. The dirt and/or oil from your hands should be removed prior to installing the pads into the caliper.
Chilton's books will provide you with a list of tools usually required to do the job and the specifications for your car. The pads should run between $40 and $75 depending upon where you live. The book will become your best friend if you intend to do maintenance of this type in the future so look at it as an investment in long term savings.
Q: Can the 2003 Honda Accord LX Sedan be fitted with side airbags for front and rear passengers?
A: the short answer is "no". There are no rear side airbags available on any car. The side airbags are housed in the backrest of the front seats on the outboard side so that they fill the gap between the driver or passenger and the inside of the door in a collision event.
The airbags are in the seat itself and the upholstery on the seat back has a special stitching so that it breaks away to allow the airbag to deploy. So if you were to try to convert the front seats you would need two new seats, with airbags. but that's not all. The passenger seat has a special sensor called an Occupant Presence Detection Sensor that determines the size and the weight of the passenger. That would need to be on the passenger seat you were retrofitting. And, you would need an entire new wiring harness and electronic control unit that was designed to work with the side and front airbags. Then you need to add all the labor to take the old out and put the new in.
I'm sure such a combination of seats, airbags, harnesses and sensors exist and that you could, say, retrofit the seats and components from a 2005 Accord EX (if that has the side air bags) but to do so would be cost prohibitive. In short, if you added the cost to do the retrofit to the value of your car you would be better off trading the car for a 2008 Accord.
hope that answers your question
Q: Where is the Variable Valve Oil Pressure Switch located in 2003 honda accord lx?
I had received the code P2647 and they said that I would need to replace this switch. I can not find a diagram in the Haynes Repair Manual. Thanks for your help
A: On the back of the engine block on the passenger side. Standing on next to the front passenger tire with the hood open, you'll see it fairly easily above the exhaust manifold on the back of the block. You'll see the wires running to it.
There is a screen on it that can become clogged, you might try removing it and cleaning it.
Q: Is a 2003 Honda Accord LX 5 speed coupe 4 cylinder Vortec considered a Sports car?
I have a 2003 Honday Accord 4 cylinder V-tec 2.4 DOHC coupe with spoiler 5 speed, would you consider that a sports car? or Street Racer? I mean this car has as much horsepower as a new Nissan Titan it Barks the tires in 3 gear, you know 1.....2.....3..... and it is a front wheel drive...
A: No, I consider this car a compact sport, a step down from sports car, for example an Acura RSX or Mitsubishi Eclipse, even though the Honda is bigger, and at least highest model of the newer ones are borderline luxury level. This car has a decent amount of power, but does not handle like a sports car. Sportier than a sedan yes, but nothing like a real sports car.
Q: Looking to buy a 2003 Honda Accord Lx?
I am looking to buy a 2003 Honda Accord Lx and I really like the car but the amount of miles on it is making me hold back on it. It has 126,000 miles on it. The dealership wants $9,950 for it. Is it worth me buying?
I know the price is a little high but my uncle who is the dealer is willing to come down on it. I'm just asking, just based on the miles is it worth buying
A: Waaaaay overpriced !!! Look online @ www.edmunds.com - they have prices for you to use
Q: should i buy a 2003 honda accord lx?
with 82k miles for 7,995 or a 2005 honda accord lx manual with 82k for 8,999 these car can run for a whilee right?
A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here - carquotes.fateback.com
Q: Problems with cruise control on 2003 Honda Accord LX?
The cruise control is not working in my Accord. The Cruise Main light comes on when I push the Cruise button. The Cruise Control light comes on when I hit the set button. The cruise control does not maintain the speed. I don't believe it is a problem with the brake switch. When I apply brakes, the Cruise Control light goes out.
What should I look for next?
A: It may be the case that vacuum or electronic actuator (the part that moves the throttle to maintain the speed) isnt working. If it is vacuum powered, there may just be a leak in the line to it, or it may have failed. If you have a moment, it may be best to ask over at driveaccord.net
Q: How do I reset the Maintenance required light on a 2003 Honda Accord LX?
A: Hold trip reset button down then turn ignition on,watch until see the Maintenance Required light goes out by itself before let go of the button.Done.Procedure is in the owner manual.
Q: Honda accord 2003 LX 2.4 engine timing belt question.?
Hi. I need a new timing belt. So I searched on several sites including autopartfair.com and filled in the specs of my car (2003 accord LX 4 cylinder 2.4 engine): http://shop.autopartsfair.com/brand.php?make_text=honda&model_text=accord&ml=acc-lx4-005&year=2003&part_name=timing_belt&my=1&cat=h
However, the two timing belts that came up as the result, said that they support accord 3.0 LX engines and said nothing about 2.4 engines. Are the timing belts for the accord 3.0 LX engine in general compatible with the 2.4 engine? If someone is familiar, can you please look at the link I included and tell me if either of these timing belts are ok to use. Thank you very much.
If anyone can find me a link to timing belts that are compatible with my car I'd be grateful (I tried searching but could not find anything).
It is actually a "drive belt", but yes there is definitely a belt
Someone please help me find the appropriate belt?
A: No. A 3.0 is a v6 and a 2.4 is a 4 cylinder. Are you sure that this car has a belt and not a chain?
Q: My 2003 honda accord LX is a gas guzzler :(?
I have a 2003 Accord LX (4 dr) automatic with about 55000 miles on it. A few months ago, I got the front tires replaced, oil change and got the state inspection done. Couple of weeks ago I realized that my car was giving me only 20 mpg. I checked to see if the oil level was alright. To my shock I found that there was no oil in the car. I refilled the oil tank and checked the mileage again. Despite the oil refill, the mileage has not improved. My driving habits haven't changed much apart from the fact that all my driving is pretty much in the city. I'm very careful not to accelerate too quickly or stop abruptly. I think I'm a pretty good driver when it comes to that. It kills me to fill my gas tank every week with the gas prices at record high. Any kind of help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
A: I get that or worse when I drive city in my '03 Accord EX-L. I was getting only 200 miles to a tank of gas for city driving. You should be getting high 20's/ low 30's when you drive highway. You seem to be doing everything right, but the Accords get average gas mileage if you drive solely in the city.
Q: At what speed should the airbags in a 2003 Honda Accord lx deploy during a head on collision?
A: 100 mph will make them come on for sure if hit a tree
I am guessing you had an accident and they did not deploy?
they will only deploy when the Gforces are enough to justify them operating. also if the belt are buckles has effect on there operation
Q: 2003 Honda Accord LX (Certified) ... Strange Noise Upon Startup While In Drive?
My 2003 Honda Accord LX (Certified) is making a strange noise (like a diesel engine) upon startup while in drive. It sounds like very loud valves, but the valves have been adjusted by the dealer without any affect. Dealership diagnosed the noise to be coming from the lower half of the engine. They have torn engine apart and everything is within tolerance and having no excessive wear.
Dealership is asking me to pay for work performed even though engine, drive train and transmission are covered by Honda Certified Warranty Program.
Any assistance/insight is appreciated!
The car's an automatic - Bad choice of words. What I mean is, "Strange Noise After Startup and Put Into Drive". It's not a problem with the car simply idling. It only happens when a load is applied to the engine. The noise is louder more prevalent at startup and easily heard when in the mornings. The noise never actually seems to go away even after it warms up. Dealership acknowledges that the noise is not normal or is excessive in nature.
Does anyone know why I'm being asked to pay for their diagnostic mistake? Why should I pay for any work done to an engine that's covered by the Honda Certified Warranty Program?
A: Per the warranty... Look at you papers that you have reguaring the warranty and read the fine print. Some will cover parts and labor but only up to a set time period then there after only parts are covered. However if they admit that there is a problem and they cannot fix it, i would then attempt to contact HONDA, not you local dealership and tell them eveything reguading the dealership.
Q: The interior release latch for the gas cap door is broken on my 2003 Honda Accord LX. How do you fix it?
A: There are two different basic kinds of door-poppers: Mechanical & electrical. Will say that most are mechanical, tho. And, the usual suspect is the wire rope push-pull cable. Only way to find-out is to start taking things apart & testing the system until you find the place that it quits working.
